Dyrect Lynk is a Newark, New Jersey native who relocated at
age 14 to Hollywood, Florida. This 25 yr old MC is an avid advocate of music
with substance in between the catchy hooks to a song. From a young age, Tommy
(life long nickname) had a passion for writing in vivid detail and
storytelling. His absolute favorite subject in school was English &
Literature. Like anyone in the world, he is not without his struggles.
Throughout middle school, he was often teased and made fun
of for being quiet and shy. In addition, at the age of 11, he was diagnosed
with high blood pressure and kidney problems, which caused him to be on
medication to control blood pressure. But all of the medication would come to a
stop a little after 3 years into the battle after he and his family moved down
south. On a Saturday morning, he was being given his medication by
his mother and his father stopped her, declaring that he no longer needed them
(despite not being a man of God at the time). Later that night, while at a
youth group service for a local church, the night's preacher had specifically
requested that he be brought to the front because, despite not knowing him (he
was 14) God had revealed that he was very sick and needed a healing prayer.
At that moment, the preacher asked him to raise his hands
and he placed his hands on his forehead and prayed. At that point, he said that
he felt a cold sensation running up and down his body from the crown of his
head to the soles of his feet. The following week, when he saw a kidney
specialist in Miami, he was given a clean bill of health from the specialist.
After deciding to pursue a career in Gospel hip hop, he made
a small buzz with his single on the first installment of the South Florida
compilation album known as "The Lab back" in 2011 with his single
"Let's Ride," known by Tommy-D at the time. After a break hiatus,
he returned in October 2012 under his current stage name, Dyrect Lynk. He
is currently working on his debut EP, "Outskirts Of My Mind,"
which will be released under his label Kingdom Ryderz Muzik. The lead single is
the song called "Payout" produced by Kid Flash and was released on
7/14/2013. According to him, the EP will be a peak into who he really is beyond
the concept songs he had done in the past (his two prior singles) as there are
references to personal struggle on the project.
