Yung B, known as Brother Berto, was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to a single mother who worked hard her whole life trying to raise a son with no support from anybody. Although he grew up an only child and had nobody to look up to, it wasn’t hard for him to make friends. Being raised in the neighborhood of Broadview Park, Berto always surrounded himself with a certain kind of people, the people who were known to make trouble. In his eyes, as long as he surrounded himself with them, he would never have any problems. As the smallest in the group, he was always the first to make a scene, believing he had to prove himself to be respected. Because he had to grow up and become a man without a father, whom he told himself he hated every day, and because he had health issues and was in the hospital constantly, he struggled to find peace although he was supported by a loving mother and good friends. There was something missing from Berto’s life.
One Friday night, a Christian family on his block invited him to a youth group service; he and five other friends attended the service. They appreciated the kindness of the church so much that they attended every Friday night youth service at 4CORNERS Youth Ministry in Hollywood, FL. In the end, Berto was the only one of the five who kept going, until finally, he had an encounter with the Holy Spirit that moved him and changed his life forever. Berto found the Truth in life. He realized that Jesus was his Comforter, his Healer, his Father, and his Strength! For eight years now as a full member of Tabernacle of Christian Faith Church, Berto has been striving for perfection—to be the Salt and Light of the earth. He understands that he's human but believes he can make a difference in the world by the wisdom and strength that God provides.
Berto has always been a fan of music and real Hip Hop, and just three years ago, God blessed him with the skill of writing music for the glory of God, putting his story in lyrics in a way that his listeners can relate to. Since the beginning of his journey in the industry, Berto has gotten opportunities to minister at several churches in Miami (and open mic events) to share the word of God. With his big brother Praize, a known underground artist from Hollywood, and popular artist Fern from Social Club — a personal friend of his — Yung B has formed his first Mixtape, entitled "1 LIF3 1 MOTIV3," which will reveal certain personal life issues and views in different areas in music, also featuring Fynishline rapper from FNF live and artist Miykael from Miami Rap group N.O.G. This project is the foundation and inception of Berto's path as an artist, and he hopes to be a great asset to God’s work in music in South Florida.
